Complicit in Bigotry

That is what Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center, Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, Brian Burch, president of Catholic Vote, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, Richard Viguerie chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council are telling the Huffington Post. (FoxNews.com)

The Conservative leaders are saying that based on a "satirical" piece written by columnist Larry Doyle about Rick Santorum's Catholic faith.  "Larry Doyle's recent anti-Catholic screed in the Huffington Post, 'The Jesus-Eating Cult of Rick Santorum,' is bigoted and unacceptable" they claim.  They say it is a "perfect example of 'flame-throwing, name-calling, and simplistic attack dog rhetoric.'"

Let's consider flame-throwing... The American Family Association (AFA) is saying that President Obama has started an “all out war on Christians” making them choose between "Life and good … or death and evil.” This as a result of merely offering contraception coverages to women via insurance.  (TheNewCivilRightsMovement.com)

Or perhaps a little attack doggery... A priest at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland refused communion to a woman at HER MOTHER'S FUNERAL because she is a lesbian and "in the eyes of the church, that is a sin."  He also never finished the service, walking out during the daughter's eulogy and never returning.  Some, obviously don't see that as a dog attack.  In a letter of apology from Reverend Barry Knestout, he called it "a lack of pastoral sensitivity."  (Lez Get Real)

So, it is ok for the Church and the AFA to be complicit in bigotry... could certainly think of a few names to call on that one.

Do Away the Gay

It is surprising that none of the anti-gay, homophobes out there didn't come up with this great idea.  Maybe the fact that this story proves that homosexuality is natural in all species makes them shy away.  But all the gay-haters have to do is tell everyone that the human race is in jeopardy of extinction and then *presto* do away the gay.

So, at a zoo in Canada, there are these two penguins.  Pedro and Buddy were brought to the zoo to hook up with a couple of eligible females.  Instead the two male penguins bonded with each other.  Now, the zoo is going to isolate them from each other to see if they can get the "boys interested" in looking at the girl penguins. (TheNewCivilRightsMovement)

All that NOM and AFA have to do, then, is convince the world that the human population is going to go bye-bye if we don't stop all this gay-ness.  Make the gays and the lesbians all get together so that the world doesn't lose the wonderful human race.  But, wait!  Several of my homosexual friends have - or are going to have - babies...

Oh, and the Duggars are expecting their 20th baby... they won't let extinction happen.  (MSNBC)

A Double Standard

There are people out there who definitely live by a double standard.  First off, everybody is in an uproar over Academy Award winning actress Susan Sarandon calling the Pope a Nazi.  Faux News reported "Actress Susan Sarandon called Pope Benedict XVI a Nazi during a discussion session at the Hamptons Film Festival over the weekend." (FoxNews.com)

Now, the Pope "was conscripted at the age of 14 into the Hitler Youth" reports Faux News, but evidently he didn't stay in the youth group.  But, he is German and was part of Hitler's group.  So, calling him a Nazi might not be that far off.  Although, the Catholic League of America gets to call Sarandon's comment "obscene". And "Sadly, it’s what we’ve come to expect from her."

And then the double standard.  American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer says that the Occupy Wall Street group is "Welcoming Nazis".  He says that "the Nazi parties in the United States all endorse the Occupy Wall Street movement."  (RightwingWatch.org)  Tea Party Nation president Judson Phillips also made a similar claim.

It is ok for hate groups and Tea Partiers to call people Nazis, but not ok for a Hollywood actress too?

Things We are Supposed to Hate

And today, those things are Schweddy Balls and AARP.  Now, Schweddy Balls started out as a Saturday Night Live sketch involving Alec Baldwin's balls... or some that were sold as a Christmas treat at his shoppe Season's Eatings.  Now, Schweddy Balls are a line of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream flavors.  (SNL Transcripts)

"AARP is a membership organization leading positive social change and delivering value to people age 50. Since 1958, AARP has been leading a revolution in the way people view and live life."  (AARP)

So, why are we supposed to hate either of these?  According to the American Family Association www.afa.net, a "pro-family action site promotes traditional family values, focusing primarily on the influence of television and other media on our society," both are bad. Although, to some AFA is bad... Right Wing Watch

With Schweddy Balls the AFA says that the "vulgar new flavor has turned something as innocent as ice cream into something repulsive."  They are calling for a boycott.  Because they don't want kids walking into the grocery story asking for something offensive.  AFA also took a stand against another Ben & Jerry's flavor - Hubby Hubby which celebrated gay marriage.  "It seems that offending customers has become an annual tradition for Ben & Jerry's."  (JoeMyGod)

The AARP one might be a bit more confusing.  Helping older people is wrong?  Oh wait of course there had to be a reason, and AFA points it out:  "AARP uses member resources to advocate same-sex marriage and pro-homosexuality military policy."  (JoeMyGod)

Guess Old Schweddy Gay Balls is just bad and need to be hated.

The Christian Terrorist

We all have heard of the tragic events that happened over the weekend in Norway.  Anders Behring Breivik, the perpetrator of these ghastly murders, identifies as a conservative Christian.  And having "terrorized" the people in Oslo and the children at the camp, he obviously identifies as a terrorist.  That would make him a Christian Terrorist.  He has said that he killed all these people because of their allowing Muslims in the country and for the "cultural annihilation" that has happened.

He may not be the only Christian Terrorist in the world today.  Brian Fischer, from the American Family Association, agrees with Mr. Breivik.  "Much of his analysis of cultural trends in Europe and the danger created by Islamic immigration and infiltration is accurate," he says, but perhaps using public policy rather than mass murder to resolve the issues is better (?) (RightwingWatch.org)

Mr. Fischer has already identified danger areas.  He honestly believes and has said "Number one perpetrators of hate crimes in America: homosexual activists, gay activists, the homosexual lobby."  But as far as a terror group?  Well, the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the American Family Association as a “hate group” right up there with the Ku Klux Klan.  (LGBTQNation.com)

Fischer terrorizes people. He has proposed criminalizing homosexual behavior and has advocated forcing gays into “reparative” therapy.  He thinks that gays are Nazis.  He also says 'Homosexual activist groups are pushing a lifestyle that kills'.

So, the definition of a Christian Terrorist.  Will have to see if Mr. Fischer sets a bomb or starts shooting.
